The design of the Ink Color project by Hsin-Yu Hsieh is a unique and elegant residential interior design that embodies peace, elegance, and restraint. The inspiration for this design came from the desire to create a quiet and serene space for the homeowners, who are a headmaster and a teacher. The overall color palette is of low tone, creating a calming atmosphere.
One of the standout features of this design is the deliberate use of glass on the TV wall and window, replacing solid walls with 50 cm wide glass panels. This creates a visual extension, connecting the sky, the ground, and the walls. The use of 0.8mm wood grain stone plastic floor tiles on the original floor tiles not only adjusts the spatial chroma but also reduces cost and space waste.
The design also incorporates a commemorative mahogany solid wood piece that belonged to the owner's old mother. Through restaining and remodeling, this piece is given a new face, symbolizing the art of "Ink and Calligraphy." The design successfully combines traditional elements with modern aesthetics, creating a smart and sophisticated ambiance.
The Ink Color design has received recognition for its outstanding creativity and ingenuity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2020. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that showcase strong technical and creative skills, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology. The Ink Color design contributes to quality of life improvements, making the world a better place.
